2022

Who can believe that the year is over?  The older one gets the quicker the time passes!  It’s that time of year again when we take stock of the year that is ending and the upcoming year.  My resolutions include saying no more-focusing on some hobbies and improving this blog-  what are your resolutions?

The Past

Holidays can be joyous and hard. The past creeps up on us.  It’s a time for joy, reflection, and relaxation. Another year is about to start . I have been thinking about my late parents and how they would be affected by COVID and the isolation that it has brought. On a happier note I think of how thrilled my Dad would be with all of the technology that we have today(he passed away in1986) and I think of how much my Mom would love to see her Grandchildren.

I hope that you have a good Monday!

Choices

I have been down this holiday season.  Normally I embrace the season. This year not so much. I am stressed over some things in my life.  I am haunted and empowered by the phrase "every choice has a consequence".  I keep thinking about my past and whether I could have done things differently. Why did I make the choices that I made.  Why wasn't I a better Grand Daughter -a better daughter earlier in life-a better ?

Keeping it Blue and White

I just love chinoiserie and anything blue and white. WhenzSara Fitz collaborated with Chappy Wrap the purchase of this blanket was a no brainer!  It makes the best gift!  Happy shopping!

Home is Where the Heart Is

Friends make fun of me because I have a formal living room. I like it-I grew up that way and I am happy. Why do people make us feel guilty about the choices that we make? Why can't people let us feel comfortable in our own skin?  I don't have the answers-I know that one of my New Year's resolutions is to not care about what anyone else thinks.  Do you care what other people think??

It's December!! Who can believe it?  Where have the last year and a half gone?  I had a lovely day off today. Manicure, lunch at Valley Forge Flowers, and some shopping!! It was the perfect day.  I love my Crab and Cleek totes to carry my purchases. I get so many compliments when I use them.  Do you have a favorite tote?  I need to join Totebags Anonymous!!!

Pillows

I love pretty things! When I was young my Mom was worried that I like things too much-things have won out!

These pillows from   Threadwell in Chestnut Hill are just divine. I have several in different sizes.  Molly (the owner) is fabulous and her taste is impeccable.

Handbags for Everyday

We all love designer bags. However there are many occasions that we want an everyday bag at a good price. MZ Wallace fills that bill. Their totes are amazing and come with a makeup bag too. It's a win win situation.  What's your favorite bag??

Costco Finds

I work next door to Costco. I go through phases when it comes to shopping at Costco. Some months I go once a week and other months not at all.

To make a long story short I have been looking for an eternity band. A friend told me that Costco has amazing jewelry. I was skeptical ar first but the more I read the more convinced I was. I took that plunge last week and bought a beautiful band.

Have you ever purchased jewelry at Costco?

Household Thing

I do love my blue and white things- whether it be old or new pieces-antiques or fun mugs. As sad as I am about the clocks being turned back I do like the warm cozy feeling of winter. It reminds me of hot chocolate and hot toddies at Skidmore and sitting with Mom in front of our fireplace.  Do you like the coziness of winter??

The mug is from Flowerbrook Pottery in Dorset Vermont.

Enjoy the day.

This and That

It’s been a long time since I have updated my blog. This is a selfie from last week. It is a clear reminder that I am now 63.I don’t feel 63. I know that my hair is grey but I see the brown.I am still working and everyone asks me when I am going to retired.

The year has been stressful.  The company that I work for was sold although one of the principals has stayed on.  COVID presented more challenges and loneliness than any one of us could imagine. I never dreamt that I would experience a pandemic.

I am still living in my apartment and loving it. My favorite part is the convenience of not worrying about a house and the responsibilities that come with it.

Until the next post!!

Faux Pas

I came to the realization this weekend that I am not as young as I thought that I was.  I am a big fan of Tieks at www.Tieks.com.  They have a message board where their fans interact.  I follow the board  but have never posted until yesterday.  I asked a question and members really took offense.  I asked why men wear Tieks?  Clearly that was not politically correct but I asked it innocently-no malice intended- I feel old and ignorant-

This and That

The last few weeks have been very busy.  A family friend is being married in Charleston in September.  I panicked when I thought about being in a sheath dress looking fat. I decided to take the plunge and do the Noom diet..  I find it very easy and more importantly I lost 11 pounds in three weeks.  I kid myself and say that I am shredding for the wedding.

I always feel funny when I change hairdressers. My stylist has Covid so I decided to make a change. I went to a new salon and am very pleased. I am going for a Keratin treatment on Saturday.  My hair is so frizzy lately \.  It needs the treatment.  Do you feel funny when you change hairdressers?

Childhood Home

My childhood home is up for sale again.  I sold it six years ago to a lovely couple.  They have had more children since moving in so they put the house on the market.  Our family was there for 55 years.  The current owner sent me a tour of the updates and I. Was blown away.  Do you visit your childhood home.

Bedding

It's so hard to find nice sheet nowadays.  I wanted to get nice sheets for my guestroom (aka sofa bed). I headed to Pottery Barn Kids. They have some very cute selections (even for adults). I purchased these heart sheet and shams and I adore them. They are cute, soft and appealing to the eye.  I have also purchased from Pottery Barn Teenwww.potterybarnteen.com.  Check these out. I know that you will be impressed. They also have wonderful sales.

A Great Tote

I love a great tote!! I have been a tote collector since the 70's!  One of my favorite totes is my Ginger Jar tote from Crab and Cleek.  They have lots of great totes and this one is no exception. It makes a great gift for the student, hostess or for yourself!!! Let me know what you think .

I'm Back

I 'm back!!! I really have missed blogging.  It was a part of my life for so long when I wrote Preppy 50 and Loving Lilly (until my blog got swallowed up by Google). Life is good all things considered. I have been fortunate to be working during the entire quarantine. My company is considered essential. I feel fortunate to have had a routine everyday.  What a blessing!!!  I look forward to sharing my finds with you.
